I take the question to mean; two valves for a loader (lift & bucket curl) and what would is a 3rd valve used for? A third valve usually supplies a circuit to the rear of a tractor. In my case, I use the rear circuit to feed a backhoe, power chute for a snowblower, and hydraulic top-link for a box scraper and pallet forks. In the case of the pallet forks, I need two circuits, one for the carriage and another for the lift. Since I only have one circuit, I have to run the carriage tilt from the loader curl circuit. If the forks had side-shift, I'd need a third circuit. There are plenty of applications for rear hydraulic circuits, and some people have elabourate setups. Three circuits just for rear hydraulics isn't a bad setup. One for top-link, another for side-levelers and the third for 3ph implements with hydraulics. ....

On JD 4000 series tractors other than the 4100 the 3rd SCV is also typically used to raise the mid mower deck. If you want to keep your FEL attached and operational at the same time as your mid mower you will need the 3rd SCV. I think that the 4100 uses the TPH to raise the mower. ....

My 3rd SCV controls the cylinder used to raise and lower my belly mower. Would it be possible to use the 3rd SCV hydraulic connectors at the back of my 4400 Deere to attach to a hydraulic top link on my 3 pt? (assuming I would first disconnect the hydraulic lines to the belly mower's cylinder) Would I need any additional hardware except for the hydraulic lines and cylinder? Mike S. ....

I'm guessing that grabbing the mower circuit to run a top link wouldn't require anything except quick connectors and long enough lines. I mentioned that I have to grab my curl circuit to run both the forks and top-link for the carriage tilt. I ordered the cylinder with lines long enough to run from the 3ph area to the loader valves. The only complication I had was that the cylinder came with CAT2 loops. Sleeves were supplied to size the loops to CAT1, but the sleeves were too long to fit in the top link bracket on the tractor. The dealer sent new sleeves, although I could have ground the old ones down if I wasn't worried about taking the temper out. ....

I have ordered My 4300HST with the 430 FEL, and 72" belly mower, and a 3rd SCV.My Question is this, should I order NOW while it is being put together the extra SCV and outlets for Hydraulic lines on the rear of the tractor for future needs? Also if I do, where do they put the lever?Anyone?

If there is any chance that you will need the hydraulics at the back (such as a hydraulic top link to your 3pt), then you should consider having them added--it is not real expensive as I recall. The lever will be mounted in the top of the right fender where the black blank is currently located. Unless JD has changed the design, you will learn to grab the lever itself and not the black knob since the knob tends to come off when grabbed. Mike S. ....

Tree Farmer, I agree with Mike on this. Order it now and be done with it. I ordered a 3rd SCV on my 4400 last year and it wasn't very expensive. It is a pain to install on your own because you have to remove the right rear tire to install it. I haven't had trouble with the knob on mine yet - we'll see how it holds up after a season of using it to lift and drop the belly mower. I expect to be using it for a hydraulic top link also. ....

Jeff, I just finished installing a 3rd SCV on my jd4600 and it is not necessary to remove the left rear tire. The installation took me about 6 hours total. The directions are very good. If purchasing a new tractor have it ordered with it as the cost is about the same as I paid for the kit. ....
